Unit number

A vehicle identifier used in fleet records and fuel card reports.

Why It Matters

A unit number links a fuel purchase to a specific truck or trailer. Without it, reports cannot show which vehicle used each gallon, making cost review and IFTA work harder.

What to Check

• Confirm whether the card prompts for unit number at the pump or in the app.
• Check whether unit numbers appear in transaction exports for IFTA and cost reporting.
• Use consistent unit numbering across fuel cards, ELD records and maintenance logs.
