Gross savings
Fuel savings before subtracting card fees, transaction fees, out-of-network charges or other costs.
Why It Matters
Gross savings is the fuel discount before any card fees are subtracted. It can look large in advertising but does not reflect what the carrier actually retains after monthly fees and transaction costs.
What to Check
- Calculate gross savings using actual monthly gallons and the confirmed cents-per-gallon discount, not peak estimates.
- Do not present gross savings as the final benefit without subtracting known fees.
- Compare gross savings against total monthly fees to estimate net savings.
